When Do You Need a Post-Construction Cleaning Service?

A cleaning service for new or renovated buildings is called post-construction cleaning. The term ‘post-construction’ implies that this cleaning takes place after the construction phase is completed. A building contractor may clean up debris in general, but a thorough cleaning is no longer part of their job description. This type of cleaning is done from top to bottom, and it includes more than just sweeping the floor and washing the carpet and other visible areas. The following are some of the cleaning requirements that must be met:

  • The walls must be cleaned and free of grime, smudges, and marks.

  • Cleaning of the windows and frames using a power washer.

  • Removal of plastic and stickers off windows, doors, and furniture.

  • Ceilings, fans, heaters, and lights should be dusted, both wet and dry.

  • Floors must be clean and polished, free of clutter, especially around the corners.

  • Vacuum cleaning, trim cleaning, and threshold cleaning.

  • Cleaning inside and out of all appliances, shelves, and cabinets.

  • Trash and waste should be disposed of properly.

  • Any safety concerns, loose wires, or leaks should be reported to the construction contractors.

  • Once the cleaning has been completed, a final thorough inspection of all the spaces, corners, and interior surfaces should be performed.

The Three Phases of Post-Construction Cleaning

The above list of cleaning requirements must be accomplished one step at a time through the three phases of post-construction cleaning.

Phase 1: Rough Cleaning

This is where the first phase begins, once all of the necessary electrical, plumbing, and framing has been completed. The first and most crucial task in this phase is to remove large things, such as debris, trash, leftover materials, and other items that cannot be vacuumed. After that, general sweeping or vacuuming will take place. This phase also includes the removal of stickers off doors and windows, but not the cleaning.

Phase 2: Thorough Cleaning

This is the most labor-intensive step of the post-construction cleaning process, and it necessitates a large amount of cleaning equipment and materials. Rooms that serve a specific purpose, such as kitchens and bathrooms, are given special attention. In this phase, toilets, sinks, cabinets, and windows are just some of the installed items that are deep cleaned.

Squeaky Cleaning ensures that the most effective and up-to-date cleaning equipment and materials are used to ensure these areas, as well as the most inner surfaces such as air ducts, and thoroughly cleaned. After this phase, clients will be one step closer to moving in.

Phase 3: Final Cleaning

The final cleaning, often known as touch-up cleaning, is the last step. This occurs several days after the second phase because dust and grime may still settle. As a result, the cleaning crew will have more time to focus on the final dust removal. Because the common things that are cleaned on this point are fingerprints, smudges, and other little imperfections, this phase only takes a short time.

Cleaning up after construction takes a lot of time and effort, and it can also take a few days to complete. This activity is challenging for a construction contractor to handle, who already has a lot on their plate. In addition, construction contractors are already preoccupied with constructing the structure, so adding the task of cleaning up their mess is a huge burden. As a result, employing expert cleaners, whether through a construction contractor or on your own, is highly recommended.
